Derek is a journalist and author who covers business, property, and sports. He co-wrote No. 1 titles: The Last Fools, The First Fools, and The Price of Being Fair, which all won the Popular Readers’ Choice Awards. Other best-selling titles he has helped author are Not So Little Red Dot and Boardroom Knockout. An avid sports fan, he has also written a children’s book, Singapore’s Sports Champions: Joseph Schooling, which was shortlisted for the 2026 Singapore Book Awards. In 2024, he led a year-long campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Marine Parade estate, including exhibitions, social media, postcards, and videos. He previously reported at The Straits Times, where he was also a sub-editor and breaking news reporter. He is a political science graduate from the National University of Singapore.
