Our Journey
The Nutgraf was founded over three bowls of noodles by three journalists with zero experience of running a business, dwindling savings and no idea of what the future would bring. What could go wrong?
Our Awards
Behind The Banyan & The First Fools
For SG60, we won, won, and won in 2025, just like the place we call home. First, Behind the Banyan clinched Best Professional Title at the Singapore Book Awards. Then, at the Popular Readers’ Choice Awards, both The First Fools and the Chinese edition of Strictly Business came out tops, snagging us a rare double delight. Majulah The Nutgraf!
The Price of Being Fair & Strictly Business
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, we were tasked to tell the improbable success story of FairPrice Group in the form of a commercial book – revealing the tensions and struggles faced as it balances profit with purpose. Besides lots of free house brand snacks and goodies from FairPrice Group, we also received an early Christmas present in the form of winning top prize at the Popular Readers’ Choice Awards in 2023! We followed up in 2024 with another win for the Chinese edition of the book, and scored a double victory with Strictly Business too.
This Is Me: See Me in a Different Light Campaign
Working with the Autism Network Singapore, we crafted a compelling digital campaign to raise awareness of autism as part of Autism Awareness Month in 2022. This Is Me: See Me in a Different Light adopted a story-based approach and was even featured in print newspapers – a result of successful social media outreach. The campaign was awarded the 2022 W³ Award (Silver) by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts in New York in the Social Content & Marketing-Cause Awareness category and the Marketing Excellence Award in Singapore (Bronze) for Excellence in Public Sector/Non-Profit Marketing.
The Last Fools
Our book shone a light on eight pioneer civil servants who were instrumental in Singapore’s leap from Third World to First – and it got its share of the spotlight, too. In 2022, The Last Fools won second runner-up in the Popular Reader’s Choice Awards, attracting strong organic support from the public.
One Havelock Square
This coffee table book documented the State Courts’ move from the iconic Octagon building to the new Towers at One Havelock Square. It came in print and PDF, with a twist in the form of Augmented Reality (AR) features. It was recognised as Best Hybrid Book at the 2021 Singapore Book Awards.
DHL Logistics of Things
To showcase all things logistics, we crafted and curated a digital content hub for DHL. The Logistics of Things was recognised for its excellent journalism, winning the Corporate Publications Gold Award at the PR Awards Asia 2021 and the Publications Silver Award at the PRISM Awards 2021.
Tall Order: The Goh Chok Tong Story & Standing Tall: The Goh Chok Tong Years
Writing an authorised biography about the extraordinary rise of Singapore’s second Prime Minister was definitely a tall order. Not only did we do it, we made it the title of the book – which came in first in the 2019 Popular Readers’ Choice Awards. Following that, we took the plunge and wrote a sequel. Volume 2 matched the success of the first, bagging first prize in the 2021 Popular Readers’ Choice Awards, along with the Best Book Cover Award.
Neither Civil Nor Servant &
Dream Island: The Mad, Mad World of Philip Yeo
We turned the life and career of Singapore economic titan Philip Yeo into a neat book and gave it a swanky title: Neither Civil Nor Servant. Then we distilled the best bits into a children’s book, named Dream Island. Both books came in as second runner-ups in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Popular Readers’ Choice Awards respectively, proving once again that Singapore stories sell.
