The Brief
Turning 70 is a time of celebration and reflection. Has it been smooth sailing or choppy waters? To commemorate the union’s anniversary, we were tasked with conceptualising and producing a series of articles that centred on its successes, pitfalls, and direction for the future.
The Work
We felt like cartographers mapping the contours of the past as we charted this organisation’s history, from the 1950s to present day. From extensive interviews with leaders past and present, we developed eight articles filled with stories of how a trade union turned the tide for Singapore’s maritime workforce.
The Results
By recovering the stories lost at sea, we stirred the hearts of more than 30,000 SMOU members and deepened their ties to the union.
